To All Employees of Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Gap Kids stores,

We and the other people who will be picketing Gap stores today and possibly in the future would like you to know that we have no anger toward you and that we are here merely to express our love for the Redwood forest and all of its creatures, and our concern about the future of these resources for our local community, our children and for everyone.

The Fisher family, who founded the Gap stores and who have profited greatly from them, should not be clearcutting Redwood forests and endangering precious resources such as the Coho salmon. Bob Fisher, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Gap, Inc, and the Mendocino Redwood Company have described the logging of these forests as "a Fisher family investment." Clearly, the Fisher family has the power to stop the damage being done to these already severely over-cut forests. We hope you will understand how much we care about these forests, and will join us in helping to convince the Fishers to act more responsibly.

Please feel free to call us with any concerns. Those of us who are privileged to live among the Redwoods invite you to visit us and see the forest for yourselves.

  In hope and in peace,

Mary Pjerrou
