FOREST DEFENDERS URGENTLY NEEDED
TO PROTECT MENDOCINO OLD GROWTH!
"Fisher Family Logging Blitz Begins"
Forest Defenders are urgently needed on two fronts:
--APRIL 1 PROTESTS. Sandy Dean of Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC, the Fishers of Gap, Inc.'s logging company) has announced that MRC is going to commence multiple logging operations this Thursday, April 1. These plans target the last of the old growth in the Albion, Big River, Navarro River, Alder Creek, Greenwood Creek, and other areas. For more info or to help, call 707-937-4295 or 707-468-1660!
--APRIL 3 PROTEST. CDF postponed last Friday's decision on THP 1-95-315 Amend. #10 till this Friday (they left us hanging until the 11th hour last Friday) It is VERY LIKELY that CDF will approve this THP (which targets the very last old growth forest in Greenwood Creek - see pics at http://www.elksoft.com/gwa) on Friday, April 2, at 5 PM, leaving us the difficult task of trying to get a Temporary Restraining Order over Easter weekend (they've done this before on holiday weekends).
If this happens, we will need at least 15 Bay Area forest defenders to join Mendocino activists starting early morning on April 3 to protest the logging while we seek a TRO!
