Northern California and East Coast Forest Defenders!

Some relatively good news on the forest front:

***In Humboldt. Sam Johnston of BACH reports that logging THP 1-97-520 HUM (the controversial P-L 705-acre plan surrounded by the Headwaters Preserve) will be delayed as late as mid-May or June, due to requisite Spotted Owl surveys that cannot be completed until then! We had thought P-L would begin logging there this weekend--so this is very good news!

***In Mendocino. Mary Pjerrou reports that the Fishers have begun logging the Albion, but they have not entered the areas of greatest community concern (including Kaisen Gulch). No protests as of yet. CDF postponed their decision on THP 315 (we had expected them to approve this THP that targets the last of the old growth in Greenwood Creek on Friday); Easter weekend protests were postponed accordingly.

***On the road. Redwood Mary leaves for the East Coast today on her second *Plight of the Redwoods* tour. From there, she will be going to Nigeria on an environmental mission. GOOD LUCK, MARY ROSE!!!

***In the courts. EPIC, SC, RCWA, and others are taking CDF and the timber companies to court! More on these courageous, hardhitting lawsuits in the next Save the Redwoods/Boycott the Gap Campaign newsletter! GO, CRUSADERS!!!

Happy Easter Egg Hunting!
