Invitation to Seattle from the Ruckus Society!!!
***************************************************
Following is an irresistible invitation from Han Shan of the Ruckus Society
to come to Seattle and register for the Convergence!!!
Greetings WTO Activists-
I'm sorry I haven't been more in touch since the Bay Area WTO Training. I
have been in Seattle for two weeks now, plugging the Ruckus "hellraising
machine" into the Direct Action Network and the local scene in general.
There is much to do but its exciting to see the fire up here and all the
committed people burning to build a real people's globalization - a
cross-border solidarity movement demanding an end to the World Trade
Organization, and all that it stands for.
The World Trade Organization comes to Seattle in just 18 days.
There are presently hundreds of extraordinary organizations and tens of
thousands of individuals working to turn back the corporate takeover of our
planet. They have constructed multifaceted strategic campaigns and are
organizing to bring thousands of concerned citizen-activists to Seattle
November 29 - December 3, when the WTO plans to hold its Ministerial. The
Ruckus Society is working to make sure the inevitable confrontation between
civil society and the WTO unfolds in a nonviolent and meaningful way that
will inspire the global public.
WON'T YOU JOIN US HERE IN SEATTLE?
Hundreds of citizen-activists will be coming for the "Convergence," a
training being facilitated by Art & Revolution, The Ruckus Society and the
Direct Action Network. We will be holding workshops for individuals and
affinity groups in nonviolent civil disobedience including Political
Theater, Blockades, Climbing as well as Media and Legal training. The
Convergence begins on the 20th and will run until the day of Mass Action,
when we take to the streets-- Nov. 30th.
To register for the Convergence, go to
http://www.agitprop.org/artandrevolution and click on CONVERGENCE on the
home page.
Also, if you haven't been to http://www.globalizethis.org recently, it is
changing and evolving daily. Presently, the site is designed to give you the
information you need to get EDUCATED, get INSPIRED, get ORGANIZED, get TO
SEATTLE, and get IN THE STREETS. Check it out soon.
--More news on the way very soon--Watch for it--

From Sam and Patrick at RAN:
Representatives of popular movements from around the world are travelling
across the US with the PEOPLES GLOBAL ACTION CARAVAN to raise awareness
about corporate globalization and the WTO. They are headed to Seattle for
the "Protest of the Century" at the World Trade Organization's ministerial
meeting in Seattle, November 29 through December 2. The caravan will be
passing through San Francisco Fri Nov 19th and 20th.
On the 20th the caravan participants will be joined by a wide range of Bay
area activists for a Rally against the WTO in JUSTIN HERMAN PLAZA, at NOON
on NOVEMBER 20. The rally will include international speakers, live music
and an incredible human banner that spells "NO WTO"!
We all know that the World Trade Organization is a horrific assault on the
rights of working people, the environment and democracy in general but we
need to get the message out to the rest of the public about this corporate
power grab. One great way to do it is to come together for a mass action
that literally spells out our unifying message in a beautiful piece of
visual art.
Picture hundreds of activists from different movements all coming together
to align our bodies so that we spell out NO WTO as part of a living
breathing message to the world. Not only will we show the power of unified
direct action but we will create an image that the corporate media can't
distort. This action can help frame the debate and let the public know the
truth : there is a massive and ever growing resistance to the corporate
domination of the planet promoted by the WTO.
For this to work we need people. Lots and lots of people! So bring your
family, bring your friends! Mobilize your community! Let's all stand up
together for the world we want to live in. For more information, to
co-sponsor the event or get copies of flyers contact Sam at Rainforest
Action Network, 415 398 4404, ext. 355 or email batfish@earthlink.com
Nov 30: NO WTO! International Day of Action!!!!!
******************************************************
In Seattle, we will be attempting to shut down the WTO!!! WHEREVER you are,
PLEASE, join us in SOLIDARITY by taking a stand to save the planet and
humanity from corporate exploitation.
See you in Seattle!!!
